Is this service necessary for me?
About 15,000 to 20,000 communication devices inclusive of PDA phones and mobilephones and work related devices like laptops, PDAs, USB flash drives are lost every year in Singapore. On top of it, there are also numerous gadgets like iPod mp3 players, digital cameras that are stolen from owners.

BAK2u makes it easy getting the stolen items back to you (BAK2u) through anti-theft software for laptops, PDA phones, mobile phones and any USB storage devices, all at only a small fraction of the cost of the gadgets.

My gadget is the latest model! Will someone bother to return to me?
Which is worse? To lost a gadget with no identification or with some form of ID?

There are many items that are returned to the police posts, lost and found departments of various organizations but many are not returned to the owner due to the lack of identifications. Also with anti-theft software installed in the device, it increases the chance of a return when stolen when the alert is sent from the thief's own contact number or IP address.

What happens when I lose something?
If you have pre-installed the Anti-theft software in your device, you can wait for the SMS text or the email alert.

How does BAK2u know what items are mine?
When you activate the BAK2u service on our website, you register your contacts to the device.

Why don't I just write my name on my valuable items?
Why compromise your personal information which you have no idea on whose hands they fall into?

How do I know if PhoneBAK BB works?
When the finder replaced the owner's SIM card with his, PhoneBAK will silently send a SMS to the pre-defined mobile phone number.

It is important to test out the pre-defined local number by simply interchanging with another SIM card first before actual use.

How do I install the software?
There will be a step-by-step installation guide included.

Are there any technical or local support?
BAK2u has presence in Singapore and various countries through our partners to provide the necessary supports, including documents for owners to report to police for non-recoverable cases too.

Can I use the same program for any other devices?
Each copy of PhoneBAK BB program is licensed to only 01 registered device. It is therefore non-transferable.

Who will recover the lost device?
As the device has been pre-configured with contact numbers, the receiver of the alert can contact the finder directly and make the necessary arrangement or can report to the police to be dealt with too.

How would BAK2u deal with non-recoverable cases?
Refer to the police in the event when the finder does not want to return the phone. Save the SMS alert received as evidence of the theft.

In the event, that there is no sms received to the pre-defined mobile number after the phone is lost, the device could have been lost and not found.

The general terms and conditions shall apply to each and all our services in addition to any specific terms and conditions except to the extent, if any, expressly excluded in the specific terms and conditions.

1. BAK2u will not be responsible for any interruption, disruption to or deterioration in the quality, reliability or accuracy of the anti-theft software service or any technical issue that may arise from or in relation to any device or hardware that customer may use with the PhoneBAK software to the device.

2. BAK2u does not warrant that the anti-theft software will be uninterrupted and/or error-free.

3. All software provided to customers by BAK2u are covered under and subject to the terms of warranty from the relevant PDA, mobilephone manufacturers. BAK2u is not responsible for any defects of the software due to manufacturer's or customer's fault and if applicable, any hardware which customers may have installed.

4. Customers shall ensure that the software purchased is compatible with their PDA phones/laptop/mobilephone system. Customers shall ensure that their devices are not SIM locked as it may prevent any SMS from being sent out. BAK2u will not be responsible should the device fail to work on the customer's PDA phones/laptop system.

5. BAK2u shall not be liable for any costs, loss or damage (whether direct or indirect), or for loss of revenue, loss of profits or any consequential loss whatsoever as a result of your using of the software.

6. SMS services to send out the SMS alerts are subject to network availability, device capability and other conditions. SMS service speed might vary depending on coverage, location and devices used network traffic.

7. You shall indemnify us against all claims that anyone threatens or makes against us relating to your use of our services or due to your breach, negligence or omission.

We may, at any time, amend or delete any of our terms and conditions, suspend or change any of our services. We will give you notice (which may include advertisement, statements, letters, by posting on our website or such other forms as we deem appropriate) of such changes. Such notice shall state when the changes will take effect and if you continue to use the service after such date, you will be deemed to have accepted the changes.
